Though i work the hardest so please give me a shout out
For i am the truck, the float, a part of the show
When i was heavily pregnant with my son I decided i was going to go to carnival the same year! i had a blast but of course had to keep my skin on the truck! I jumped off at times to take a whine but was put back on the truck haha. I think they were not prepared for any labour pains I was to start enduring on the road hahaha
After a while, I was getting tired my feet were hurting like crazy! But sitting on the truck had its perks. I was able to see the sea of revellers and bystanders who were all having a great time. It was an experience and memory i will always treasure. Seeing people move along with the truck. Or dancing where there were! Laughing, Smiling, Dancing, Embracing!
A view from the truck isn't bad after all. The DJ of all people should vouch for that! To be able to see the sheer number of people following your band has is truly amazing! Revellers as well as by standers!!! And to see them having a good time to your set must be an out of this world feeling and accomplishment!
We also have the trucks that have the steel pan bands on them too creating sweet sweet music from day!!!! The earliest forms of floats i believe had the steel bands on them, then it was the sound systems!!! Floats are part of the history.... now i just sound like im dragging on but seriously look at the footage from back in the day!!!
A view from the truck could mean you're having a good meal! It could also mean you're not letting you mas band go hungry or thirsty! For you are a caterer or a server of the good food and drink! You'r view is tiring yet crucial!
So let us not forget how important the trucks are!!! The drivers too!!!!
And don't knock the view from the truck either as its just as enjoyable!! Food and Drink wise tooo!!! With the Main float giving us pure tunes and the drinks float with its never ending refreshments!
And how can we not forget the entertainment!!! Take a whine on the truck!!! hold on for dear life and whine on ah ride!!! Catchy right!!! Whether you'r holding on for dear life or exhausted!! we all know we have had to lean on the truck for support at one stage! haha!
Many of the best photos have been taken from the top deck of the trucks even the signature ones that are used by Notting Hill Carnival themselves! showing a sea of revellers as spoken about earlier. Its truly mesmerising. These photos are clear in indicating just how many thousands of people attend the Carnival.
I say worldwide carnival photos with the trucks in the back are my favourite!!!!! it just gives that wholesome touch to a carnival photo!!!!!! Not to mention the biggest symbol for advertising your mas band and sponsors!!!!!
